This course covers the root cause of the predicament created by human activity that underlies the modern sustainability movement.  Specific topics covered include the meaning of sustainability, principal metaphors for sustainability, classic formulations of ecological principles, dynamics driving ecological degradation, relationship of degradation to the global economy, and current initiatives to align economic activity with ecosystem health.

Presenter:  Dick Roy, co-founder of the Center for Earth Leadership, the Northwest Earth Institute, and the Oregon Natural Step Network.
